Photographer Research Assignment

Today you will be doing some research online.
You are to search the web for 'photographers'.
I want you to find a photographer on the internet who's work you find appealing to your visual senses and write a half page essay on your photographer and their photos.

In this essay you must include:
1. What rules of composition are being used in the photographer's work, if any?
2. What type of moods or emotions does their work evokes in you?
3. Are they a Landscape, Portrait, Documentary, Studio, Sports, or Abstract Photographer?
4. Describe what you see in this Photographer's work.
5. Are there any similarities or consistencies in this Photographer's work? What are they?
6. Why is this photography appealing to you?

You will then save at least 6 samples of this photographer's work in a folder called 'Photographer' that you will create on your desktop.
You must save at least 6 examples of their work in this folder that you will later integrate into a Photoshop document with the your essay.
Make sure you take the time to find a photographer who's work you admire and are interested in.

5 Angles Assignments

For this next Digital Photography assignment you will go out and find 5 objects or subjects. EACH OBJECT OR SUBJECT YOU WILL PHOTOGRAPH FROM 5 DIFFERENT ANGLES. MAKE SURE THAT EACH ANGLE AND PHOTO IS FROM A MUCH DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES AND DISTANCES THAN THE PREVIOUS ANGLES.
Once you've completed this assignment you will have 25 photos total.
This assignment is due on Friday, so you will need to use your time efficiently to be able to import your photos into iPhoto.

6 Rules of Composition Assignment

Now that you've read and we've discussed the 6 Rules of Composition, you will take this knowledge and go out and capture 10 solid examples of each of the following Rules:

1. Simplicity
2. Rule of Thirds
3. Leading Lines
4. Framing
5. Balance
6. Color Contrast

Remember, if you have one photo that has more than one Rule of Composition in it, you can drag that same photo into more than one of the iPhoto albums that you have created for this assignment, and count it as one of your 10 photos for each Rules it applies to.

This assignment is due Wednesday, February 16th.

Once you have finished reading this assignment, I want you to look online and find one famous photographer. This can be a photographer you are already aware of, or you can merely do a Google Search for 'Famous Photographers' under 'Image Search'.
I will be going around the room and asking random students what you have found.
